How does the Samsung Galaxy Tab Stack-up Against the iPad? »

So, would I buy the Tab? In a word, no. It is just a big Android phone to me without the phone (although it does have a dialer and you could theoretically use it as a phone, but you would look pretty silly with one of these against your head). There are no real tweaks or modifications to the Android OS that make it feel like a tablet. Apple really did set the bar by having increased performance, amazing integrated tweaks and the ability for developers to create tablet-specific apps. Until Google puts together a tablet-based OS for Android, I believe all Android tablets will play second fiddle to the iPad.

After visiting my local RadioShack, I discovered two disconcerting truths about the Samsung Galaxy Tab. (1) The salesman did not hesitate to describe the dismal sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. I distinctly remember him saying, “I haven’t sold any.” Granted there is an argument to be made that he – as a single entity/member of the RadioShack sales team – has been unable to coarse a single person to purchase the Tab. That is neither here nor there; from what I can tell, the iPad is selling itself. (2) The same employee bashed Samsung’s poor advertising, and praised Apple’s efforts, “If we sold [the iPad], I would have one already.”
