Cultured Code: State of Sync, Part 1 »

When I first downloaded Things.app, I never dreamt cloud syncing would become such a necessity (in fact, it wasn’t even a phrase). Fast-forward to today, and we all have multiple devices – iPhones, iPads and Macs – all trying to maintain a constant, and identical sync status – cloud syncing seems to be our only solution. I am fine with that. However, I was expecting Things.app to solve this “issue” since the debut of the original iPhone in 2007.

This is only the first, in what is meant to be a series of updates on the state of Cultured Code’s cloud syncing solution. This does not tell the whole story, in fact, this is just the very beginning – which is why this first post appears hollow.

Whatever the guys at Cultured Code decide to implement will, undoubtedly impress – not without a cost. What cost could you possibly apply today, without the feature even being released? Time. There are many alternatives to Things.app; they will sync all of your iDevices and Macs, through “the cloud.” However, they will not (and do not) have the same design aesthetic as the Cultured Code team. I have always compared Cultured Code to Apple – a comparison I, like many, do not take lightly.

I have used Things since day one, and I do not plan on abandoning the Cultured Code team now. If anything, this update only solidifies my trust and appreciation for the team, and their willingness to push forward through what may seem like dark times.
